What is your brand philosophy?
Our purpose and promise is to deliver safe, sustainable, performance-driven products that are people and planet-friendly – all rooted in our company mission: to reduce plastic on our planet. We believe in putting the care back in personal care. Our clean, naturally derived, vegan formulas in 99% plastic-free packaging* work hard for you but are gentle on the planet. We’re good from the inside out.

Do you test your products on animals?
Never. Hey Humans does not test on animals. Our products are completely cruelty free.

Are your products vegan?
Yes, our products are 100% vegan and we do not use any animal byproducts.

Do your products contain parabens?
Our products are paraben free. They are also formulated without silicones, phthalates, aluminum, animal by-products, artificial sweeteners, formaldehyde, triclosan, oxybenzone, hydroquinone, retinyl palmitate, SLS/SLES, propylene glycol, triclocarban, synthetic colors, NPEs, BHA & BHT. Our products are safe, non-toxic, vegan and cruelty-free, and we’re proudly on the Target Clean list for personal care and oral care. 

Are your products natural?
Our consciously designed personal care products are rooted in nature. 95% or more of the ingredients found in our products are naturally derived which means they are derived, or taken, from plants or natural products that may grow on trees, such as coconuts, or other plants, roots, herbs, and essential oils. All our products undergo strict testing to ensure their safety and efficacy for you, your family and the environment.

Are Hey Humans scents for a particular gender?
Our scents are gender neutral and smell good on everyone.

What’s the best way to store Hey Humans products?
Store products at room temperature. Here’s a skincare hack: Try putting our body lotion in the fridge for a cool and ultra-hydrating effect on your skin.

I have sensitive skin. Is Hey Humans suitable for my skin type?
All our formulas are clinically and dermatologist tested. They are suitable for all skin types. However, everyone’s skin can react differently, so we suggest testing on a small patch before using.

Can my kids use Hey Humans?
Our products are safe for adults 18+. As always, we recommend consulting your doctor if you have any further questions or concerns.

Are your products safe to use during pregnancy or while nursing/breastfeeding?
Our products are safe, non-toxic and vegan, and we’re proudly on the Target Clean list for personal care and oral care. If you are pregnant or nursing and have concerns, we suggest consulting your doctor on the use of any product regarding allergies that may occur during pregnancy.

Do Hey Humans products contain fragrance?
All our products contain fragrance(s). The fragrances we use are clean, vegan, and made with natural essential oils and naturally derived ingredients that are safe for people and the planet. Our scents and formulas are phthalate free, paraben free, dermatologist tested and intended for all skin types.

Why do your bottles not include pumps? 
Our packaging is 99% plastic free* which means we do not include pumps as they are wasteful and may not be recycled. 

Is there anything I should know about switching to a natural deodorant?
If you have been using conventional deodorant or antiperspirant for years, it may take up to 2-4 weeks for your body and odor to adjust to aluminum-free deodorant. 

How do I know which toothpaste is right for me?
Our toothpastes deliver high-quality care for your teeth and gums using simple, naturally derived, non-toxic ingredients. We like to give options which is why we offer both fluoride and fluoride-free formulas. 

What is Everice™ Technology?
Everice™ Technology in our toothpastes stimulates thermoreceptors in your mouth and provides an icy-cool, long-lasting fresh breath explosion.

Why isn’t Hey Humans 100% plastic free?
Hey Humans is about the journey we are all on to be kinder to our bodies and to the world around us. Our consciously designed packaging is 99% plastic free and we are on a path to get to 100%. The 1% plastic we do use is plastic waste. No new plastic is used or produced for our product packaging. We hope you will join us and become active participants on the impact of your daily choices. A few more details about the 1% plastic waste found in our products — Toothpaste: Our cap is made from a corn-based plastic substitute made from fermented plant starch. Deodorant: The glue content and interior lining of our cap and base are PLA, a vegetable-based plastic material. It is there to protect the paper from any leakage. Body Wash and Body Lotion: The plastic liner in the cap works as a sealant and prevents spills and leaks.

How do I recycle the aluminum packaging (body lotion, body wash and toothpaste tubes)?
Our body lotion, body wash and toothpaste tubes are made of aluminum. We use aluminum because it is infinitely recyclable. Nearly 75% of aluminum that has ever been produced is still in use today. Aluminum can be melted down and reformed without losing any quality, and the process can be repeated over and over again. Clean out any leftover product in the aluminum bottle with water, screw the cap back on and place in your designated recycling bin. Squeeze out any remaining product from the aluminum tube. Remove the toothpaste cap and place the tube in the designated recycling bin.

How do I recycle the paper packaging (toothpaste carton and deodorant)?
Our toothpaste carton and deodorant is made of FSC® paper which comes from responsibly-sourced wood fiber. Paper has a 66% recycling rate vs. plastic which has a 9% recycling rate. Clean out any leftover product, put cap back on and place in your designated recycling bin.

How can I minimize wear and tear on my deodorant packaging?
Due to the nature of the material, you may see some wear and tear with our paper packaging, especially if too much pressure is applied. Please open and close the top (cover) gently, handling with care. And remember that when you are using our natural deodorant, make sure that it is pushed out so that the deodorant, and not the packaging, comes into contact with your skin—this will also help protect the integrity of our sustainable packaging.

Can I repurpose the bottles?
Yes, you can upcycle our bottles. Just wash your bottles with soap and water and they can be repurposed into a vase or filled with products like dish soap or hand soap. Be sure to properly label the bottle before reusing.
